I grew up working in a local owned sandwich shop so I can appreciate places like this. In terms of service, they were very friendly and welcoming. Something I love about local establishments. In terms of food, I'd recommend getting a small sandwich unless you're fiercely hungry. This may explain the price. I paid close to $10 for a sandwich and fries. Bit high in my book. Bread wasn't amazing however the meat and produce were fresh and the fries/fry sauce were very good. In terms of venue, you can tell it's been around for a while. They keep it clean it's just dated. Probably not where I'd take my wife on a date, but I'd take my brother anytime. Overall, not a bad find!

Went in for lunch today, ordered the Chicken Philly and was very disappointed. The chicken was rubbery, there was skin and fat attached to it making it extra chewy and by the time I made it back to my office had soaked through the paper from all the liquids. The fries I ordered were a small handful and couldn't even be bothered to put in the little paper they come in rather thrown on top of the paper; the oil they were cooked in tasted very old and made me sick. I will definitely not be going back, in my opinion if you spend $10 on lunch it should be good not less than average. I have always been a fan of the Grinder Franchises but this one will not be a return.

The first time I came to Utah I ate at Grinders 13 - I was 18 years old, with a voracious appetite, the place delivered what I thought was the best Sub Sandwich I had ever eaten. Well 40+ years later, I stand by my original opinion. This place rocks. The sandwiches are plump, full of meat and fillings, and the bread is fresh and tasty. My favorite is the cheese steak, with hot peppers, and it really does the job for a great lunch.

I've been here 4 times now and I've had something different each time. I'm a huge Philly fan so decided to get that this time but wanted some green peppers to make it more philly-like. They wouldn't let me. I even offered to pay extra for the already over priced sandwich just to get the peppers. They weren't ok with it. The Philly wasn't bad but definitely not the best I've had. The basic ham and cheese was good too and so was the turkey. I feel like I've been played a fool though just because of the pricing on these sandwiches. Not much better than subway and considering subway is a lot cheaper and more fresh, I will probably just go there next time I'm craving a sub. I decided 3 stars is fair just because they do have a good variety and the fries are pretty good too. The environment isn't the best, the lay out basically forces everyone to sit in the same part of the restaurant. You'll notice if you go. Kinda made me chuckle. Bottom line. If you want a decent cheese steak or Philly, give it a try. You may like it more than your other 'go to' joint. Just be willing to pay for it. And do yourself a favor. At least get the fries. Cheers!

Went there again today because this place rocks the Texas Deluxe is one of the best sandwiches here. Go on Tuesday and they have it as the daily special so you get the small Texas Deluxe fries, fry sauce and a drink for 8.99 and if you add a 1.00 you get the large sandwich. Make sure you get the hot diced peppers to go with your sandwich!

Great Fries!! Super yummy, crispity, crunchity, hot and tasty fries! Cheesesteak was good. Pepper steak was also good. Neither sandwich was great. Next time I'll try the Chicago dog.

I absolutely love this place, Chicago dog is awesome, love that meal deal. And the Italian meats is my favorite sub, so good. Had the pepper steak there once too and was very good. Great iced tea, good fries, it's an excellent place to eat if you ask me.

Great staff, great food, good price. I ordered the Thursday special, which was a 6in Italian meats, at the suggestion of the guy helping me. It was great, the bread was fresh and soft and the meats, cheese and veggies were the same. I would definately eat here again.

Deli at its BEST! The meat and cheese is thinly sliced in mangled delicious goodness. I feel like this location has the best sandwiches of the chain but if youre looking for a good sandwich any location will do. Typically you get as much cheese as you do meat. They do the sandwich well. (I have litterally heard people request "half cheese" because of the quantity) Ask around for what is good as the menu is names only...classic! Enjoy and come hungry!

Decent sandwich. Simple, not much for toppings choices. Way Overpriced. 8 dollar sandwich was not much to speak of. Better off at jimmy johns, or (gasp) subway.

This is a pretty good sandwich shop. The food is inexpensive and pretty tasty. The people who work their are also friendly. The setup of the place could be improved however. My biggest complaint is that the menu has only sandwich names on it. There is no description of what is on the sandwich. With how long the lines get at lunch this is unacceptable. Not only do you stare in wonder at a pointless menu board for the entire time your waiting, but you have to slow the line down asking about any sandwiches your interested in. Its very inefficient.

I love the West Valley Grinders 13. First of all, it's the best sandwich shop close to work. Everything else is a major chain or crappy fast-food. Secondly, it's a great value. A "small" sub is about $7, and is the perfect size for me. To top it off, the staff is friendly, and they make a killer sandwich, loaded with meat and trimmings. There's nothing fancy about Grinders, but I always leave with a smile. Can't decide what to get? Try the roast beef w/ everything + pickles.

Acceptable cheese steak, but nothing to rave about. Not as good as Moochies or even a mall food court Charley's.

Not a bad philly....except there is NO seasoning. Even the most flavorful meat in the world needs seasoning. Pretty clean place for the most part. Some flies. Staff seemed very friendly...room is somewhat dated....booth very uncomfortable. Nothing special. An actual philly does not have tomatoes and onions on it. Not sure what that's about. Philly isn't that far away to find out how they're prepared. Pretty much all cheesesteak places do this here. A philly comes with or without cheese, nothing comes standard. Get with the program.

the fry sauce containers are gigantic. I didn't use any fry sauce because I decided that it would be a better idea to shove all of the fries inside my sandwich, but I'm sure that it was entirely adequate fry sauce. the entire experience was entirely adequate, so right around three and a half stars, rounded up due to my undying optimism.

I have been on a Philly Cheesesteak quest for the last month or two, it had been awhile since I had been back to Grinders 13 so I thought I would try out their Philly. I find the prices at Grinders 13 to be a bit excessive and their food to be middle of the road, thus not justifying the prices, their Philly fits into that description well. The sandwich looked pretty good but the meat was on the dry side and did not have much seasoning and the bread was just OK. I opted for the fries so the Philly, Fries and Drink were over $12, a pricey lunch. The fries are good, they came out steaming hot adding too the good flavor. My brother got the Texas Deluxe which was on special that day (it must have been Tuesday) and that looked pretty good. The Texas Deluxe is a burger with American Cheese, Pastrami and Bacon. If I go back to Grinders 13 it will to try this sandwich. If you are on the search for a great Philly I would suggest looking elsewhere. More specifically you may need to head to Bountiful, check out my other reviews for more details.

The best part of the meal was the friendly service. The ham and cheese was just average so I continue my search for a great grinder in the valley! They asked if I wanted the grinder hot or cold (grinders are always hot) yet when it arrived at my booth only the exterior of the ham was hot, the center was still cold. The atmosphere is a combination of fast food and diner. Although the place was quite busy it's big enough that finding a place to sit was not a problem. I won't be back.
